My journey to clear skin

This is the story about how I cured my acne-prone skin. Here’s the video if you prefer this format.

As a teenager, I experienced some breakouts, but it wasn't too bad since many of my peers were going through the same thing. However, things took a turn for the worse when I moved to the US in my early 20s. My skin rebelled, and I had the worst breakouts of my life, which seriously affected my self-esteem. I tried all kinds of over-the-counter products, but none of them seemed to work as promised.

After a lot of frustration and wasting money on topical products, I finally decided to see a dermatologist. They put me on a month-long course of oral antibiotics, which did wonders for my acne. It was clear that inflammation was the root cause of my breakouts, but the antibiotics were only a temporary fix.

I then tried Accutane, a potent drug with some short-term side effects like extremely dry skin and elevated triglyceride levels. It was a bit inconvenient, with monthly pregnancy tests required for young women, but I don't regret trying it at all. The 6-month treatment cleared my skin completely, and the results lasted for a long time.

However, just when I thought I had it all under control, hormonal acne decided to join the party. I went on and off hormonal birth control pills for years, trying different brands and profiles. It was quite a trial-and-error process, as each body is different, and what works for you at one point in life might not work later on. I can't stress enough how important it is to work with a doctor who genuinely cares about your well-being and listens to your needs. If a certain pill isn't working for you, don't settle, keep looking for alternatives.

Personally, I found that being on the pill helped me feel much better, and it's a viable option for acne treatment worth exploring. However, each person's experience may differ, so it's essential to be patient with your body and listen to its needs.

Here’s my skin with no makeup on.

Now, I must mention another product that made a significant difference in my skincare journey – Curology. I started using it years before I even started blogging, and I must say it's been a game-changer. Their personalized formula and dedicated care team have been instrumental in improving my skin's health. The key ingredient in my formula is tretinoin, which is usually available only through prescription, but with Curology, you don't need to visit a dermatologist to get it!

The best part is that there's no marketing fluff – just an effective product that adapts to my skin's changing needs over time. The easy communication with their caring team made me feel supported and valued, earning my trust in their tailored approach to skincare.

If you're struggling with acne like I did, I highly recommend giving Curology a try. You can start your trial by clicking the link below. Trust me; it's worth it! Your journey to clearer and healthier skin starts right here.
